Role description
We are looking for a skilled and driven Project Engineer Automation & Production IT to lead the planning and implementation of automation and production IT projects. This role bridges the gap between production, engineering, and IT to ensure integrated, efficient, and future-ready manufacturing systems.

You will take ownership of projects across automation systems, industrial networks, and production-related IT infrastructure (e.g., MES, SCADA, data integration), working cross-functionally to drive digitalization and operational excellence.
Your Mission
Automation
  • Plan and execute automation projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Design, program, and implement control systems (e.g., PLC, HMI, SCADA).
  • Optimize automated processes for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation (e.g., functional specs, wiring diagrams, system architecture).
Production IT
  • Lead production IT projects including MES systems, machine connectivity, and data acquisition.
  • Collaborate with IT, production, and engineering teams to integrate automation with ERP, MES, and other digital platforms.
  • Manage interfaces between shop floor and enterprise-level systems (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT, SQL databases).
Project Management
  • Define project scope, goals, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and external service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, safety regulations, and industry norms.
  • Provide training and support for production teams on automation and IT systems.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial IT, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in automation or production IT project management.
  • Proficient in PLC and SCADA/HMI systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
  • Experience with industrial networks, protocols (e.g., Profinet, OPC UA), and OT integration.
  • Solid understanding of MES concepts and database systems (SQL knowledge is a plus).
  • Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in German & English
